Por Eso! is an organisation with large amounts of patience and will never take steps that are too big such as having to account for the speed of spending the promised expenditure of a donation. With regular newsletters and reports, we keep our supporters informed about our expectations of the projects and tell them what aspects turned out to be more difficult than we thought.
Stiching Por Eso! (That’s Why! Foundation) was founded in 2007 by Jolanda Buets and Simone Heemskerk. Simone was a TV director and Jolanda was a chef. In 2004, at the request of Los Niños Foundation (http://www.losninos.info), Jolanda Buets developed and tested a plan at the school Los Niños was working with, in order to improve the children’s monotonous diet in a sustainable way. This is how ‘Huerto Educativo’ (educational vegetable garden) was born. In 2007 ‘Huerto Educativo’ officially entered the school curriculum of the Guatamalan school. In 2009 the project was successfully left to continue autonomously and ‘Huerto Educativo’ was then implemented in Peru.
In 2009, ‘Asociación Por Eso! Perú’ was founded. This is the Peruvian foundation, established with the goal of increasing the independence of Por Eso! in Peru in the long term, as well as making the Peruvian organisation more professional. Por Eso! Perú consists of 9 employees from the local area. Each and every one is a professional with broad experience. Finding the right people wasn’t easy but in 2019 we can definitely say that we have found our dream team! The Peruvian team is in charge of management and Simone supervises the execution.
