We closely monitor our impact, so we know we deliver. Growing greens really is a class solution and not just to malnutrition. Income goes up, as does the quality of education. People report their health improving and even feeling happier! In all of our activities, explicitly going against culture, girls and women are treated equally. We see gender dynamics change for the better, in communities and within families.
the long run
After six years of working with our support, communities are firmly and independently on their way to further development. Their easy and cheap gardening method is sustainable, needing no input from outside, resistant to whatever the climate throws at it. The well-trained and experienced gardeners, kids and parents alike, know exactly how to handle the garden themselves. They even manage to instruct their neighbours.
scaling up
We get a lot more requests from new communities than we can handle ourselves. Great! Increasingly we involve Peruvian school authorities, municipalities and other branches of government. They commit to supplying personnel, materials and funding by signing official contracts with us. Our team of field workers take on the role of specialists. They train and support Peruvian authorities in implementing our solution. In this way, we scale up our positive impact on very poor families exponentially.
